At long last, humanity has reached its technological peak: we’ve strapped a laser pointer to a pair of scissors. Yes, really. Because freehand cutting is now considered such a high-risk operation, we need tactical optics to make it through a sheet of gift wrap.

These so-called Laser Scissors claim to help you cut in a straight line every time. As if your shaky holiday wrapping technique was just one red dot away from surgical precision. Spoiler alert: it isn’t.

What you get:

Stainless steel blades (so far, so normal)

Easy-grip handles (because ergonomics!)

A built-in laser pointer that projects a red line in front of the blades

Instructions that require you to calibrate the laser using tiny screws, because clearly you’re not just wrapping a present — you’re performing sniper-level alignment on a pair of office tools

And yes, it needs batteries. For scissors.

Let that sink in. Your scissors now require power management. The laser lasts about two days, meaning by the time you’re finally happy with the alignment, it’s dead. Back to cutting by hand, you peasant.

In use?

The idea is simple: line up the laser with the end of your cut, and follow it like you’re defusing a bomb made of construction paper. But in reality, you’ll spend more time fiddling with the screws and wondering if the laser is off… or you are.

Meanwhile, the laser is shooting a straight line onto a wrinkled sheet of material that still moves as soon as you touch it, because physics has not yet been replaced by marketing.

Cutting in a straight line doesn’t come from lasers. It comes from your hands, your eyes, and the rare occasion when you actually care about the result.

But here’s the punchline:

It’s kind of brilliant. Not functionally. Not practically. But as a conversation piece. As a gift. As the weird thing in your drawer that you pull out when someone says, “Hey, got any scissors?” and you respond by activating a laser.

Final verdict:

Genius? If you’re 12, yes.

Useful? As much as a laser-guided fork.

Should you buy it? Only if you want to explain, for the rest of your life, why your scissors need batteries.

Laser Scissors: A product that tried to fix something no one ever asked to fix, using a method better suited for the Death Star than your craft table.

They’re absurd.
They’re unnecessary.
And they’re absolutely going in my kitchen drawer.
Because I love chaos.

There are few moments in life more thrilling than standing by your front door, armed with a steaming cup of coffee, only to find a parcel left by a delivery driver who clearly trained at Hogwarts — because he managed to appear and vanish without ever touching the bell.

Enter the SkyBell 2.0 — a Wi-Fi video doorbell so ambitious, it tried to turn your home security into a Silicon Valley startup. Unfortunately, it ended up as the Myspace of smart doorbells — big promises, weird glitches, and eventually forgotten under a layer of firmware rot.

What SkyBell PROMISED:

Live video feed to see who’s at your door — even if you’re hiding in your bathroom from actual people.

Motion sensors that allegedly detect visitors before they even ring the bell.

On-demand camera access — because spying on squirrels in your front yard is the new TV.

Night vision — invisible, apparently. So invisible, you’d never know if it was working.

In other words: James Bond-level tech in a device the size of a hockey puck.

What It Actually Delivered:

Let’s start with the app. SkyBell’s app was like a moody teenager — worked when it felt like it, crashed when you needed it, and refused to update because it “wasn’t in the mood.”

The video quality? Imagine watching a surveillance tape from 1996 through a glass of warm milk. Faces looked like blobs, motion was jumpier than a caffeinated squirrel, and if the sun peeked out? All bets were off. It either triggered motion detection every 6 seconds or simply ignored actual humans like a London bartender on a busy Friday night.

And the motion delay? Oh yes — a generous 10-second warm-up time before it actually noticed anyone. Which means by the time it realized someone was there, your Amazon package was already halfway across the neighborhood with the local thief.

The Hardware Experience

Screws the size of atoms.

Wire connectors apparently made for use by elves.

And a mounting process that required patience, optimism, and probably a spare priest on hand to exorcise the connection demons.

Wi-Fi? Only worked with ancient 2.4GHz routers, preferably ones that made a faint humming noise and were powered by sadness. If you had 5GHz Wi-Fi, SkyBell said, “No thanks, I’m more of a VHS tape kind of guy.”

But Wait… There’s Good News!

Actually… no, wait, that’s gone too.

Okay — in all fairness — if you were lucky, it worked. Occasionally. And if it did, it gave you the thrilling ability to see a blurry stranger at your door with audio that sounded like it was recorded inside a tumble dryer.

But let’s not pretend this was revolutionary. SkyBell 2.0 was the doorbell equivalent of an old man trying to run a TikTok account — trying very hard, mildly endearing, but ultimately not built for this era.

Final Verdict

SkyBell 2.0 is what happens when a doorbell goes through an identity crisis and decides it wants to be a spy cam, a Wi-Fi extender, and your new best friend — all at once — while still being really bad at ringing.

If you still have one lying in a drawer, congratulations: you now own a historical artifact from the early days of the smart home arms race. Put it next to your old iPod Shuffle and explain to your kids how once, we thought this was “cutting edge.”

And if you’re thinking of buying one? Don’t. Buy literally anything else. Even shouting “HELLO?” through your letterbox has a better user experience.

Once upon a time — around 2014, when people still said YOLO unironically — a company called Elgato had a vision. A vision where your keys would talk to your iPhone, and together they’d make sure you’d never lose them again. It was beautiful. It was revolutionary. It was… utter nonsense.

The Pitch:

Attach the Elgato Smart Key to your keychain, sync it with your iPhone, and voilà! Your phone would alert you if you left your keys behind. It would even remember where you last saw them — like some forgetful but well-meaning butler.

And if that wasn’t enough, it could beep. Yes, this piece of tech could produce a sound — the volume of which rivaled the sigh of a dying hamster.

The Reality (also known as “The Problem”):

Let’s start with the connection range. Elgato boldly claimed 30 to 40 feet. In practice? You’d be lucky if the Smart Key and your iPhone managed to stay connected while sitting on the same table. I’ve had better signal from a potato with tin foil antennas.

And then, of course, came the notifications.

Imagine leaving your keys on the kitchen counter. You walk into the living room — BEEP! An alert. You’ve abandoned your keys! The horror! So you return, only to be scolded moments later for leaving your phone behind this time. Basically, the Smart Key spent its life screaming for attention like a clingy ex.

Design & Build

Physically, the Elgato Smart Key is fine. It’s small, round, and black — kind of like a panic button designed by IKEA. It comes with one lonely button, which, when pressed, plays a sound on your phone so faint, it might as well be the wind whispering “I tried.”

The battery life was supposed to last for months, but depending on how neurotic your notification settings were, it would die faster than your New Year’s resolutions.

The App:

A cheerful little thing with settings for keys, handbags, luggage, possibly your hopes and dreams. You could define “safe zones,” like your house, where the Smart Key would remain silent. Of course, it often ignored that too. Mine once triggered an alert inside the safe zone. On Christmas morning. Because nothing says holiday spirit like “YOUR KEYS HAVE BEEN LEFT BEHIND!” shouted by a vibrating phone at 6am.

The Use Case That Actually Worked?

Ironically, the one bit of usefulness came from people strapping the Smart Key onto their TV remotes. Because yes, even in 2014, tech was failing at one job and accidentally succeeding at another. If Elgato had just rebranded this thing as a “Remote Locator for Parents”, they’d still be in business today.

Final Verdict:

The Elgato Smart Key was like giving your keys a life coach. Unfortunately, that coach had terrible advice, low self-esteem, and a voice you couldn’t hear in any room with a ceiling fan running.

In theory, this was the start of something brilliant — Bluetooth-powered object tracking. In reality, it was more like Bluetooth-powered paranoia. You didn’t stop losing your keys — you just started arguing with them.

Still better than asking your spouse if they’ve seen your keys.

The Pitch

Back in 2015, Dosh introduced the Luxe6 Dosh wallet – a product that looked like it escaped from a James Bond prop room after a Tinder date with a Tesla dashboard. This was no ordinary billfold. No sir. It was molded in Desmopan, a futuristic-sounding polymer, proudly Australian, and marketed as if it could survive a nuclear blast while still complimenting your minimalist lifestyle.

It promised a lot: sleek design, indestructibility, water resistance, six snug card slots, and a gold-plated stainless steel money clip right in the middle. The packaging? It came in a pod. Not a box, not a pouch – a pod. Because obviously, your wallet should hatch like a luxury tech egg.

Design & Build Quality

The Luxe6 was molded from TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane), more commonly found in phone cases, industrial tools, and the kind of things you expect to withstand a zombie apocalypse. It felt nice to the touch – soft yet sturdy, flexible but not floppy. And it smelled… efficient. If that makes sense.

The card slots were side-loading, which felt modern, and they were tight enough to keep your cards in place without turning extraction into a CrossFit exercise. But while the design was minimal and futuristic, the size wasn’t perfect for every currency. British notes had to be folded like origami. Euro notes stuck out like a sore thumb. It was clearly designed with Australian and US banknotes in mind. The rest of us? Tough luck.

Everyday Use

This is where things start to wobble.

If your life can be condensed into six cards, all of them pristine and perfectly spaced, you’re in for a good time. But let’s be real: most people carry gym cards, ID cards, that loyalty card you swear you’ll use again, and a few coffee punch cards you forgot even existed. Suddenly, six slots seems like a monastic lifestyle.

And while the money clip looked gorgeous and felt secure, it wasn’t exactly practical. Shoving banknotes under it felt more ceremonial than convenient. Try doing it in a rush at a checkout queue and watch your composure collapse faster than the wallet’s claim of ultimate usability.

The Cool Factor

Yes, it was cool. It looked like something Apple would release if it had a night out with Victorinox. Clean lines, bold materials, unapologetically different. The kind of product that made you feel like you were winning at life – until someone asked if it was a phone case.

The Dosh Luxe6 belonged in a category of “fashion statement wallets”: not entirely functional, but boy, did it make you look good pulling it out.

Final Verdict

In 2015, the Dosh Luxe6 wallet was ahead of its time. In 2025, it feels like a relic from a parallel universe where design won the battle over practicality.

Is it durable? Yes. Waterproof? Certainly. Unique? Absolutely. But would you use it today? Only if you don’t mind folding your cash, limiting your cards, and occasionally explaining what Desmopan is.

Ultimately, the Dosh Luxe6 wasn’t just a wallet. It was an attitude. A loud, minimalist, slightly over-engineered attitude. If you find one today, it’s more of a collector’s piece than an everyday carry. But for a few glorious years, it made wallets feel exciting again – which, let’s face it, is a ridiculous achievement in itself.

Now, in theory, this is brilliant. You plug in a pen, feed it plastic like it’s some sort of thermoplastic spaghetti monster, and draw in the air. Draw. In. The. Air. You’re basically becoming a wizard. A slightly sweaty wizard with burned fingers and no idea how to stop the filament from drooling everywhere.

They say it has two speeds: fast and slow. I’ll translate that for you. Fast means “everything melts, warps, and collapses in a spaghetti mess,” and slow means “you’ll finish your Eiffel Tower sometime in 2037.”

There are two temperature settings too, for ABS and PLA — which is lovely if you’re a chemist, but completely irrelevant to the average person who just wanted to make a tiny giraffe and ended up hot-gluing their artwork to the table.

And let’s talk about the “quick warm-up time” — one minute, they say. That’s long enough to question your life choices, realize you’ve forgotten what you were going to draw, and find plastic strands wedged in the carpet.

Yes, it comes with 50 strands of plastic in 10 colors. Sounds generous — until you realize you’ll burn through 12 of them just trying to make a vaguely functional cube. And don’t even think about replacing the strands easily. You’ll be hunting for “3Doodler-compatible filament” like a rare jungle orchid.

Now, the marketing tells you “anything is possible.” Which, I assume, includes frustration, mild burns, jammed gears, and the crushing realization that you are not, in fact, an architect, artist, or engineer. You are just a grown adult playing with molten plastic like it’s Play-Doh from the underworld.

In summary:

Does it work? Occasionally.

Is it fun? Briefly.

Will it end up in a drawer next to your half-used VR headset and that drone you flew once? Absolutely.

The 3Doodler is a brilliant idea wrapped in a plastic mess of ambition, overheating, and minor regrets. Like owning a Fiat Multipla — interesting, yes, but not something you’d ever recommend to a friend without feeling slightly guilty.

Let me start by saying this: if you’ve ever looked at the ocean and thought, “I’d like to zoom through that like a Bond villain on vacation”, then this – this absurd, glorious contraption – is exactly what you need.

It’s called the Best 300W Sea Scooter, which is a name so painfully generic it sounds like it was spat out by a malfunctioning AI. But don’t let that fool you — this is basically an underwater motorbike for humans who find snorkeling “a bit pedestrian.”

Let’s talk specs:

300W motor – not quite enough to power a jet ski, but plenty to fling you through the sea like a confused dolphin.

Top speed? A mind-bending 6km/h. Yes, you read that right. It’s not exactly fast, but underwater? It feels like hyperspace.

Dive depth: 15–20 meters. Just enough to discover reefs, wrecks, or whatever your local body of water has to offer before your ears explode.

Battery life: 40–50 minutes, which is conveniently shorter than the charging time — 4 hours. That’s right: charge it for the entire afternoon, and you get to zoom for less than an hour. Brilliant.

Now, the build:

It weighs 11 kilograms, which means hauling this thing from your trunk to the water’s edge is basically a CrossFit session. It’s roughly the size of a small angry bulldog, but less cooperative when it comes to stairs.

But the best part? It’s powered by a lead-acid battery. Yes, that’s right — the same kind of battery found in your grandmother’s 1998 car. Environmentally questionable? Absolutely. But does it work? Also yes. Until it doesn’t.

So what’s the point?

This machine is utterly ridiculous – and yet, completely brilliant. Strap on a snorkel, hold on for dear life, and prepare to look like you’re auditioning for a low-budget Mission: Impossible scene set in a chlorinated pool.

It’s for people who:

Think swimming is too slow,

Want to explore the ocean like a majestic underwater moped rider,

Or simply enjoy terrifying fish with unexpected speed.

Final verdict:

Elegant? No.

Practical? Not even slightly.

Fun? Oh, hell yes.

Should you buy one? Only if you’ve ever thought, “You know what would make snorkeling better? A motor.”

So, there you have it — the Best 300W Sea Scooter. It’s silly. It’s heavy. It’s slow on paper but fast in the sea. And it’s probably the most fun you can have underwater without breaking maritime law.

And yes — it makes an excellent birthday gift for that one friend who already owns everything… except an electric submarine bike.

Let me paint a picture: You’re lying in bed. You’ve got a book or a TV somewhere above your feet. But oh no — the sheer act of lifting your head slightly is simply too much to bear. So what do you do?

You slap on a pair of Evelots Laying Down Reading Glasses, of course — a device so gloriously absurd it makes neck pillows look like elite athletic gear.

These “glasses” — and I use that word very loosely — are essentially a pair of prisms duct-taped into a plastic frame, designed to let you look forward while your body is completely horizontal. That’s right: you stare at the ceiling, and somehow see your feet. It’s like virtual reality for people who have emotionally bonded with their mattress.

They claim to reduce neck strain, help during post-surgery recovery, and are great for pregnant women. And to be fair — yes, if you’re bedridden, this might actually be useful. But for the rest of us?

This is a gadget for people who’ve completely surrendered. The kind of person who hears “physical activity” and breaks out in hives. The kind of person who, when handed a remote control, considers the distance to the TV and wonders if there’s a robot that can press the buttons.

And the design? Oh it’s beautifully ridiculous. Slap this monstrosity on your face and you’ll look like a discount submarine periscope crossed with a welding mask. Stylish? Only if your fashion inspiration is a 1960s Soviet telescope.

Final verdict:

Comfortable? If you don’t mind wearing a toaster on your face.

Effective? Technically, yes. Gravity still works.

Stylish? Only if you want to look like a cyborg librarian.

Recommended? Only if blinking feels like cardio.

Let me ask you something: Have you ever burned your mouth on a cup of tea and thought, “You know what I need? A cup with a glowing LED thermometer built into it.” No? Of course you haven’t. But that hasn’t stopped someone from inventing exactly that.

Enter the Cup with Temperature Indicator – a mug so advanced, it tells you when your beverage might kill your taste buds, as if your tongue wasn’t already perfectly capable of doing that with a gentle test sip. It’s the mug equivalent of wearing a parachute on a trampoline.

So what does it do?

Well, it has LEDs built into the side of the cup — yes, actual lights — that show you the temperature of your tea or coffee. Because apparently, we’re now too evolved to just wait 30 seconds and use our lips like normal people. The mug becomes your own personal meteorologist, reporting on the weather inside your Earl Grey.

The concept?

A “smart glass” that takes a drink’s temperature and displays it clearly on the outside so you can sip with confidence, not fear.
Gone are the days of cautious blowing, tentative sips, or, you know, basic common sense. This cup says:
“Relax, I’ve got science on your side.”

Reality check?

Do the lights work? Yes. It flashes like your drink is having a rave.

Is it useful? For about one and a half sips. After that, you know it’s drinkable because you’re drinking it.

Does it need batteries or witchcraft? Probably. It’s unclear. But one day it will stop working and you’ll be back to the ancient art of “waiting.”

Is it dishwasher-safe? Absolutely not. It’s full of circuitry. Wash it like you’re cleaning a Tesla with a sponge and a prayer.

Final verdict:

Clever? In theory, yes.

Over-engineered? Massively.

Necessary? Only if your mouth has the pain tolerance of a Victorian poet.

This is a product for people who think boiling water is unpredictable and that coffee should be handled like plutonium.

It’s fun, it’s flashy, and it’ll probably break if you sneeze near it — but for those five glorious uses before it ends up at the back of your cupboard, it does make your morning feel like you’ve stepped into a sci-fi movie.

Cup with Temperature Indicator:
Because your tea doesn’t just deserve a saucer. It deserves a dashboard.

Ah yes, the Impossible Instant Lab – the device no one asked for, but everyone who drinks oat milk and wears ironic tote bags once thought they needed. Born from the same minds who decided that vinyl sounds warmer and film photos have soul, this gadget does one simple thing: it turns your crispy, high-resolution iPhone photos into blurry, low-contrast Polaroid prints.

Because who wouldn’t want to ruin a perfectly good photo?

What Is the Impossible Instant Lab?

In simple terms, it’s a Polaroid printer disguised as a hipster periscope.

You pop your iPhone on top, launch their bespoke app (which will crash at least once), and it flashes your photo down through a lens onto real instant film. Then it spits out a warm, fuzzy memory that smells faintly of regret and fixer fluid.

Price back then: $199 USD

Film packs: Around $20 for 8 shots

Result: Looks like your camera took a photo while sneezing

How Does It Work?

Here’s the genius of it:

You open the app.

Pick a photo.

Your phone screen lights up the image like a torch in a haunted house.

The machine “exposes” the Polaroid film using your screen as the light source.

The photo slowly emerges like a shy vampire crawling out of a crypt.

Yes. It literally takes a picture of your phone screen.

So if your brightness is off?
Congratulations – you’ve just made a $5 abstract mess.

The Pros (Yes, There Are a Few)

You get physical photos, which you can hold, frame, or lose in a drawer forever.

It’s fun to use once, like a novelty bread helmet or tequila with scorpions.

You’ll impress that one friend who still shoots on a Leica and only drinks biodynamic wine.

The Cons (Welcome to Reality)

It’s slow. Slower than a snail on tranquilizers.

It’s pricey. Film costs more than therapy, and the results won’t heal any wounds.

It’s unpredictable. Every photo is a surprise. Mostly unpleasant.

Requires sun-level brightness from your phone. Forget using it at night unless you’re inside a tanning booth.

2025 Perspective: Do People Still Buy This?

Somehow… yes.

It’s still floating around Amazon and eBay, clinging to relevance like a washed-up actor on a reality TV show. Why? Because nostalgia is powerful. And people will do anything to feel something in this soulless, 4K, AI-filtered world.

Should You Buy the Impossible Instant Lab in 2025?

If you’re:

A film photography geek with too much money

Looking to impress a date who thinks capitalism is a disease

Writing a thesis on “The Psychology of Pointless Tech”

Then yes. Otherwise?

Just get your photos printed at a kiosk for 25 cents. They’ll look better, faster, and you won’t feel like you accidentally joined a cult.

Final Verdict

The Impossible Instant Lab is like trying to watch a 4K Netflix show on a 1993 portable TV with rabbit ears. It’s unnecessary. It’s clunky. It’s brilliant – but only if your goal is to make life harder in a delightfully analog way.

There are many important books in this world. 1984. To Kill a Mockingbird. Anything by Dostoevsky. And then there’s Bond Girls — a 144-page glossy homage to women who were either seduced, shot at, or turned out to be double agents in heels.

Published in 2010 by DK — the same people who gave us encyclopedias with pictures for people who think reading words is too much effort — Bond Girls is exactly what you think it is: a glorified photobook drenched in nostalgia, perfume, and slightly misplaced political correctness.

The Premise

This literary masterpiece dares to answer the question no one was asking in 2025: What if we made a coffee table book dedicated entirely to women who flirted with a man that drinks room-temperature martinis and explodes small countries as a hobby?

Yes, this book lovingly chronicles Bond’s lady companions — the good, the bad, the borderline criminal — with dramatic movie stills, prop photos, and quotes like, “Oh, James…” as if that somehow qualifies as character development.

Design & Content

Let’s be clear: this book isn’t bad at being what it is. It’s actually quite good — in the same way a velvet painting of a Ferrari is technically well-made but you still wouldn’t hang it in a museum.

Each page is a shrine to smoky glances, flowing hair, and the sort of cinematic lighting that only exists in perfume commercials and Michael Bay movies. The layout is DK’s signature style — neatly organized, bursting with trivia, and perfect for flipping through while pretending to be interested in something sophisticated.

What’s Missing?

Subtlety. Nuance. Feminism.

This book aged about as gracefully as Sean Connery in Never Say Never Again. It was published in 2010, and already by 2013, you could sense that the whole “Bond Girl” archetype was crumbling under the weight of the #MeToo movement and modern screenwriting that doesn’t treat women as décor.

And yet here it is in 2025, still occasionally showing up on Amazon’s “People Who Bought This Also Have a Man Cave” list.

Who Is It For?

People who think Die Another Day was a good idea.

Middle-aged men who believe Bond should never, ever wear a cardigan.

Interior decorators looking for something vaguely intellectual to put next to the whiskey decanter.

Your uncle who still insists that Moonraker is underrated.

Why It Still Works

Let’s be honest — Bond is timeless, even when he’s problematic. And the Bond Girls book, while laughably tone-deaf by modern standards, still offers a fascinating retrospective on how cinema glamorized danger, seduction, and espionage… using women who somehow managed to smuggle handguns inside evening gowns.

This book isn’t about realism. It’s about fantasy. It’s about a time when villains had volcano lairs, watches had lasers, and every woman Bond met either tried to kill him or kiss him — sometimes both in the same scene.

Final Verdict

In 2025, Bond Girls is less of a celebration and more of a historical artifact — like a dusty ashtray in a Jaguar E-Type. It’s a love letter to a cinematic era that was cool, ridiculous, and very, very male.

Should you buy it?

Well… if you’ve got a bar cart, leather armchair, and a sudden urge to rewatch Octopussy, then yes. Absolutely. It’s a perfect guilty pleasure.

If you’re looking for progressive storytelling, complex female leads, and empowering representation — this is not your book. This is a Bond book. It’s unapologetically glamorous, slightly outdated, and undeniably entertaining.

Still available for collectors and Bond fans with a sense of irony. Click here to find Bond Girls on Amazon and support our ongoing effort to review books that smell like aftershave and danger.

Ah, 2013. The year of Harlem Shake videos, plastic-scented phone cases, and one of the most hilariously over-promised products to ever grace a rainy Tuesday: the Bright Night StrideLite Illuminated Lightweight Umbrella. According to the box, it was “genius” and “a life-saving innovation for night walks”. According to reality? Slightly better than walking with a glowstick shoved in a sandwich bag.

This umbrella was marketed as a high-visibility beacon for pedestrians, loved by Seattle Business Magazine, which – to be fair – is probably contractually obligated to hype up anything that fights off rain.

But let’s be honest: if this thing saved anyone’s life, it was probably by accident.

The Glorious Pitch

The original ads made it sound like you’d be visible from a quarter-mile away – glowing like a lightsaber-wielding Jedi of dry weather. “Illuminate your path”, “reflective from all angles”, and my personal favorite: “great for deterring creeps.”

That last one? Dubious. Because nothing screams “vulnerable and distracted” like someone fiddling with battery caps and wondering if the bulb is even in the socket.

The Actual Experience

The umbrella itself? Lightweight, yes. Illuminated? Not so much.

The build quality was passable – like most decent umbrellas not bought from a gas station.

The handle? Plastic.

The lightbulb? An actual glass bulb. No, not LED. A glass bulb inside a collapsible umbrella. That’s like installing a chandelier in a tent.

And the light it emitted? Picture a dying flashlight. Not enough to see your path, but just enough to attract every mosquito within a 10-meter radius.

Also, let’s not forget the utterly maddening battery installation. You needed a screwdriver, a PhD in umbrella mechanics, and the patience of a monk just to get the thing turned on.

Was It Ever Worth Buying?

At the time, maybe. As a novelty. As a gift for someone you didn’t like very much. Or perhaps as a visual prop in a low-budget sci-fi series where it could stand in as a glowing force field generator.

But in 2025?

In the world of motion-activated LED umbrellas, voice-controlled gadgets, and weather-sensitive auto-closing canopies – this thing is like bringing a VHS tape to a Netflix party.

It’s small, dim, awkward, and barely visible in actual night conditions. There are solar-powered, USB-rechargeable, windproof umbrellas out now that make this “Bright Night” relic look like a school project gone wrong.

But Was It Fun?

Yes. Ridiculous, nostalgic, and utterly charming in its failed attempt at innovation. It’s the kind of product that makes you want to throw it in a drawer and tell guests, “Hey, remember this disaster?” right before a round of drinks.

Also, to be fair, Amazon customers didn’t completely hate it. It has a 4.1-star average from people who probably never used it in actual rain. Highlights from reviews included:

“Great umbrella. Looks like a lightsaber!”

“The light is kind of dim.”

“Good for creeping out creeps.”

“Needs batteries and common sense.”

The Final Verdict

Would I use it?

Only if I were forced to walk through a storm dressed as a cyberpunk knight.

Should you buy it?

No. Unless you’re a collector of weird weather tech or an umbrella historian.

Better Alternatives?

Absolutely. Visit our Amazon affiliate page or check out our curated recommendations on nice2buy.com. We’ve moved on from dull lightbulbs in rainsticks. There are now options that actually make sense.

Or better yet – just buy a normal umbrella and wear a reflective vest like a sane person.

The Pitch

Some genius once thought, “You know what people need? A bottle opener that looks like a playing card.” And thus, the Kikkerland Casino Bottle Opener was born. Because what could scream class and utility louder than a sharp-edged chunk of stainless steel pretending to be part of a poker deck?

In a world where a table corner, a fork, or the average keychain can open a beer bottle with zero drama, this product bravely stands up and says, “But what if… novelty?”

Design & Build

Let’s start with the only thing this product has going for it: it looks cool. It’s literally shaped like an Ace of Spades and made from stainless steel – which, to be fair, means it won’t crumble the moment it meets a bottle cap. But calling it “pocket-sized” is like calling a brick “mobile.” Technically true, but nobody’s sliding it into their skinny jeans and walking comfortably.

It has sharp edges that could easily slice your pocket liner if you’re not careful. But hey, at least your beer will be open, right?

Features (That Nobody Asked For)

Shaped like a playing card.

Made of heavy-duty stainless steel.

Opens bottles.

Doesn’t play cards.

Doesn’t win poker games.

Doesn’t make your beer taste better.

Doesn’t justify its existence.

This is the kind of product that ends up in a “Secret Santa Under $10” list, gets gifted to someone’s uncle, and then lives out its remaining days magnetized to a beer fridge in a garage.

Real-World Use Case

You’re at a party. Someone shouts, “Anyone got a bottle opener?” and you smugly pull out your metal Ace of Spades. People chuckle. You pop the cap. Everyone forgets about it 30 seconds later.

It works fine. Most of the time. Unless your bottle’s cap is slightly off-angle or your hand is wet, in which case it’ll slip and you’ll feel like a complete tool holding an overpriced, awkwardly flat blade of irony.

Does It Work?

Technically yes. So does the edge of a desk. Or a car door latch. Or literally any object harder than a bottle cap. This opener isn’t bad—it’s just… completely unnecessary. It’s the equivalent of using a gold-plated shovel to plant weeds.

Final Verdict

The Kikkerland Casino Bottle Opener is the epitome of “gadget for people who already have everything else.” It’s fun. It’s quirky. It opens bottles. But so does a rock. If you absolutely must own a bottle opener that makes you look like the magician of mediocre party tricks, be my guest.

Just don’t act surprised when it ends up forgotten in the back of your junk drawer, right next to the avocado slicer and the USB-powered coffee warmer.

Ah yes, the modern home. A temple of technology, minimalism, and now—keys stuck to your light switch. Because, of course, nothing screams “I’ve got my life together” quite like hanging your house keys, bottle opener, and spare Allen wrench off a magnetized faceplate next to your hallway lamp.

Let’s talk about the “Keeps Keys Handy” Magnetic Light Switch Cover, a product that—if you haven’t seen one in the wild, don’t worry, neither has anyone else.

What is it?

It’s exactly what it sounds like: a standard plastic light switch cover with three magnets slapped on the bottom. That’s it. No sensors. No Wi-Fi. No AI. No app. Just magnets. Stuck to the thing you use to turn on the lights. Revolutionary.

The idea? You screw this “innovation” onto your existing light switch plate, and voilà—now your keys live there, proudly hanging on the wall like modern art.

The Pitch:

“Never forget your keys again! Keep them by the door!”

Sure, assuming you enjoy bending over every time you enter or leave, because the keys are dangling half a meter below eye level like a set of wind chimes for toddlers. And if your keychain is heavier than a pencil, enjoy that magnetic slip-and-slide as it plinks onto your floor the moment you turn the light on with a little too much force.

But Does It Work?

Technically, yes. It does hold keys. It even comes with nickel-plated key rings, for reasons I assume are entirely aesthetic, since your regular keychain would’ve worked just fine. The magnets are strong enough to hold up to 27 keys, according to the manufacturer. Which sounds oddly specific and entirely fictional.

Unless, of course, you are a janitor. In which case, you’ve probably already figured out a more secure system—like literally any key cabinet ever made.

Is It Useful?

Let’s be honest here. If you’re the kind of person who constantly loses their keys, this will not solve your problem. You’ll forget to hang them there just as easily as you forget to hang them anywhere else. And if you’re not that kind of person… why would you buy this in the first place?

Also, how often do you look at your light switch and think: “You know what this really needs? A magnetic load-bearing upgrade.”

Exactly.

But It’s Great for Organization!

If by “organization” you mean turning your entryway into a key-themed art installation, sure. But there’s a reason people buy key hooks, trays, bowls, smart locks, or literally anything else. They’re discreet, they work, and they don’t dangle ten keys directly below your hallway lightswitch like a metallic goatee.

Also, have fun brushing up against those sharp, clanky keychains every time you walk past. It’s like living in a wind tunnel of regret.

Design?

White. Generic. Offensively neutral. It will “fit any home,” the packaging says, which is marketing speak for “we gave up on style, deal with it.” It’s a blank light switch cover, not an Apple product.

Who Thought of This?

No one knows. Presumably, someone who once lost their keys and their common sense in the same week. But they had a screwdriver and a dream, and now the rest of us are being sold this piece of DIY absurdity for $20.

Honestly, I’ve never seen one of these in anyone’s actual home. Not once. And I visit a lot of homes. Even the people who religiously buy gadgets that slice avocados 13 different ways draw the line somewhere—and this is it.

Final Verdict

The Magnetic Light Switch Cover is a product that solves a problem almost no one has, using a method no one asked for. It’s not exactly terrible—it’s just hilariously unnecessary.

You want to keep your keys handy? Get a key hook. A bowl. A nail in the wall. Heck, duct-tape them to your forehead. All of those options make more sense than this.

Still curious?
Sure, click through our Amazon affiliate link and grab one for the comedy value. Or—dare I say—check boku.style instead. We might not sell magnetic faceplates, but we definitely respect your walls

What Is It?

A stripped‑back, single‑speed fixed‑gear bike dipped in solar‑activated glow paint. So you ride past streetlights at night and it shines like a beacon. One hour in daylight equals about an hour of glow in the dark—it’s the bold answer to “should I buy reflective tape or this?”

Everything else is classic fixie: durable steel frame, straight fork, flip‑flop hub for single‑speed or fixed‑gear, simple brake (front only), and the bare‑bones components fixie enthusiasts demand.

How It Functions in 2025

Let’s cut through the marketing fluff: this bike glows. True to its name, its solar paint responds to light—during sunset you’ll turn heads. During daylight, it’s a fairly standard steel city bike (~10 kg/22–24 lbs). Yes, there’s a front brake for retail sanity, though you can remove it if you’re the sort who trains in fixed‑gear purism.

It rides like any other fixie: direct, responsive, unforgiving on potholes—and exercising your glutes without mercy. Landlords who whine about noise as you drag to a stop haven’t lived yet.

Why It Might Still Work

Glow-in-the-Dark Paint Still Doesn’t Age: You don’t need LED strips or e‑bikes—just sunlight and chemistry. Stylish, functional, and silent.

Fixie Zen: No gears, no fuss. Pure mechanical feedback through the pedals. You control speed and braking via your legs and body. If you want serenity mixed with thigh burn, you’re golden.

Simplicity = Less Maintenance: One brake to check (or remove), sealed bearings, standard tubes & tires. No derailleurs, no cables cluttering your lines.

Price‑worthy: In 2025, this bike lands in the sub‑€400 price range—competitive versus the avalanche of European fixies and kludged rebrands.

Why It Might Not Work

Glow Fades Fast: Expect roughly an hour of glow, not a full-night spectacle. Good for night-time trips to the pub, not midnight rides home.

Steel Weight: 22–24 lbs isn’t light—climbing hills or lugging upstairs gets tedious. Compare to modern alloy or carbon‑fork models weighing under 20 lbs.

Front‑Brake Only: Still single‑brake. Okay for fair-weather dawdlers, dangerous for wet streets. You’ll probably bolt on a rear brake anyway (and pay more).

Component Quality: Zoom handlebars and generic wellgo pedals are fine—but after a few seasons, upgrades will be on your list if you’re serious about longevity.

Does It Actually Glow?

Yes—credible glow. Not flashbang stuff, but noticeable silhouettes on obscure city lanes and startled pedestrians. The novelty still attracts compliments in 2025. Just don’t expect rave-level strobe. Shine it under a lamp first.

Alternatives to Consider

Alloy Fixies with Reflective Decals: Lighter frames, digital gear—if glow isn’t essential.

LED Wheel or Frame Lights: More visibility, but battery dependency. Often gaudy.

E-bike with built-in lights: Smooth ride, but no fixie soul—and you ruin the blinking paint effect.

Still, if your goal is quiet purity at night with glow vibes, this Pure Fix remains unique.

Who Is This For?

Urban commuters who prefer minimalism, light style and subtle glow.

Cyclists who are allergic to gears and love direct saddles.

People who want to ride at night without blaring LEDs or silly reflectors.

Not for:

In 2025, the Pure Fix Glow Fixie is still a niche gem—simple, stylish, solar-powered, and subtly rebellious. It scratches a specific itch: lit-up stealth commuting with no over-complication.

Would I recommend it? If you’re over thirty, done with trend-chasing, and proud of your glow-in-the-dark bike, yes—this is exactly your vibe. If you’re chasing speed, lightweight, flashy tech or off-road trails, no.

Once upon a time, children’s alphabet books were full of sunshine, singing ducks, and morally uplifting tales about sharing your biscuits. Then someone, presumably after downing three espressos and reading too much Kafka, decided that the alphabet needed a full-blown psychological breakdown. Enter: K is for Knifeball: An Alphabet of Terrible Advice — a book that turns “A is for Apple” into “A is for Anarchy, and also maybe arson.”

Let’s just say, this is not your grandma’s alphabet book. Unless your grandma has a dark sense of humor, a criminal record, and a raccoon named Rabies.

A Book That Teaches You Absolutely Nothing (Perfect!)

This 80-page collection of childhood corruption comes from the delightfully twisted minds of Jory John and Avery Monsen, the same lunatics responsible for All My Friends Are Dead. You remember that one, right? The book that made you laugh hysterically and then stare at the ceiling questioning the point of your existence? Yeah. Same guys. They’ve returned, not to soothe your inner child, but to hand it a lit firework and walk away.

“K is for Knifeball” is essentially an A–Z of the worst life choices you could ever make, presented in adorable rhyming couplets and cheery, preschool-style illustrations. It’s as if Dr. Seuss had a nervous breakdown while binge-watching Jackass.

Examples? Oh, there are plenty. “O is for opening things with your teeth.” Practical if you’re a beaver, disastrous if you’re human. “F is for setting Daddy’s wallet on fire.” Because what child’s upbringing is complete without a felony or two?

The Illustrations Are Cute. Too Cute.

Let’s talk about the visuals. They’re drawn in the same wholesome, 90s children’s book aesthetic that once taught you to tie your shoelaces and brush your teeth. Except now, it’s teaching you to brush your teeth with battery acid. Each page lures you in with adorable little characters — smiling animals, wide-eyed kids — and then wallops you in the face with a punchline that would make your therapist double their rates.

Honestly, it’s genius. The juxtaposition between the saccharine art and the absolute idiocy of the advice is what makes the book so damn funny. It’s satire at its best — ridiculous, shameless, and uncomfortably relatable. I mean, who hasn’t wanted to poke a wasp nest just to see what happens?

Who Should Read This?

Anyone with a pulse and a questionable sense of humor. This book is not for children unless you want to raise the next generation of stunt performers. It’s perfect for adults who enjoy dark humor, ex-gifted kids with anxiety, and people who think warning labels are just light reading before a good time.

Give it as a gift to your sarcastic coworker, your burned-out sibling, or your friend who still thinks “YOLO” is a personality trait. It’s also excellent for passive-aggressively leaving on your boss’s desk after they schedule a meeting at 5:59 PM on a Friday.

Final Verdict: A+ for Anarchy

In a world where everyone is offended by everything, K is for Knifeball is a bold, brilliantly stupid reminder that humor is still alive — and it has absolutely no plans to grow up. This book is the literary equivalent of licking a frozen lamppost: you know you shouldn’t, but you’re going to do it anyway, and it’s going to be hilarious.

So, should you buy it? Absolutely. Should you take its advice? Only if you’re actively trying to get banned from the PTA.

Where to Get It

If you’re brave enough to bring this beautifully deranged masterpiece into your home, here’s an Amazon affiliate link to grab K is for Knifeball and support our growing collection of utterly unnecessary, yet wildly entertaining, things.

The Pitch: A Chef’s Secret Map to Gastronomic Enlightenment… Allegedly

According to the back cover, Where Chefs Eat is the culinary Ark of the Covenant. It’s a who’s who of culinary royalty telling you, a mere mortal with tastebuds trained on Uber Eats, where they eat. Not where they cook. Not where they own a 7-table temple to foie gras foam. No — where they pop in for a cheeky noodle soup after 14 hours of yelling at sous-chefs.

This was once pitched as the ultimate guide for serious foodies. It has maps, quotes, categories, and supposedly reveals the dark arts of off-the-radar eats from Copenhagen to Kathmandu. It even tells you what to wear. Because obviously, the first thing I need in Jakarta is to be told I’m underdressed by a book written in 2013.

Design & Build: If IKEA Sold Books

It’s 704 pages thick — which is a polite way of saying it’s built like a cinder block. You’re not putting this in your carry-on unless you’re smuggling it past customs as “emergency self-defense equipment.” The design? Let’s just say it’s the literary equivalent of wallpaper in a 1990s gastro-pub: trying to be ironic, ends up just being beige.

And let’s be honest: the world has changed since this monstrosity hit shelves. Yelp, Google, TikTok, AI-generated “top 10” lists — you’d have a better chance finding a good ramen spot by following a confused British tourist on Instagram than flipping to page 617 of this gastronomic doorstop.

Features: 400 Chefs, Zero Context

Yes, it has chef recommendations. But do I really care that Ferran Adrià likes a grilled cheese joint in Uruguay? Good for him. But the rest of us aren’t teleporting to Montevideo for a midnight snack unless we’ve just sold an NFT of our pancreas.

The book lists over 2,000 restaurants, but gives you approximately zero insight into why they matter to someone who isn’t a Michelin-starred demi-god. Most entries are shorter than a tweet, and the tone? Somewhere between “curated elitism” and “I had to write this in the back of a taxi before service.”

And the maps? Oh, the maps. Clever? Perhaps. Useful? Only if you’re navigating downtown Tokyo with a ruler and a bloodhound.

Use Case: For People Who Think Booking.com is Beneath Them

Let’s be clear: this is not for your average traveler. This is for the guy who refuses to eat anywhere with laminated menus, who uses “umami” in casual conversation, and owns copper cookware despite living off canned wine.

You don’t use this book. You display it. Preferably next to a vintage espresso machine and a perfectly neglected basil plant. It’s the ultimate culinary flex. A middle finger to TripAdvisor. A statement piece that says: “Yes, I spent $30 on a book to feel superior and still ended up at Shake Shack.”

Final Verdict: A Beautiful, Pretentious Waste of Paper

In 2025, Where Chefs Eat is the gastronomic equivalent of asking a Formula 1 driver which parking lot has the best lines. It’s comically out of touch, painfully heavy, and only marginally more useful than an outdated Zagat guide from 1986.

And yet… in a strange way, there’s charm here. You can’t deny the ambition. The sheer audacity of thinking the average reader wants to know where Magnus Nilsson eats pancakes on Thursdays is kind of endearing. It’s a time capsule from the pre-Instagram age when we thought chefs were gods, not just guys with expensive aprons and PR teams.

So yes, I mock it. But I also salute it. Because this book, like a truffle-scented fever dream, believes in food more than it believes in utility.
